The formation of stars

This is a picture of cosmic dust that existed billions of years ago. Scientists state that the stars were marvellously formed from such atoms of dust to begin lighting with bright colors as if they decorate the sky. Hence, scientific fact states that the sky was full of such particulates at the early stages of the universe’s creation and then the stars were formed; such stars acting as lamps that light everything around them. The Holy Koran miraculously and precisely revealed this scientific fact fourteen centuries prior to the discovery of scientist. God, the Exalted says in the Holy Koran (meaning), “Moreover He comprehended in His design the sky, and it had been (as) smoke: He said to it and to the earth: “Come ye together, willingly or unwillingly.” They said: “We do come (together), in willing obedience.” So He completed them as seven firmaments in two Days, and He assigned to each heaven its duty and command. And We adorned the lower heaven with lights, and (provided it) with guard. Such is the Decree of (Him) the Exalted in Might, Full of Knowledge.” (Sura Fussilat, ayat 11-12)

The above ayah talks about the creation of the sky first and then the creation of the stars which are described as lights (the original lamps). We glorify God, the Almighty who revealed such a precise scientific fact in the Holy Koran. Is the above ayah not sufficient evidence that the Holy Koran is undoubtedly the word of God?

The most lighting meteor

The above photo shows a meteor penetrating the earth’s atmosphere causing magnificent lighting. Scientists say that the atmosphere is very important as it protects the earth as a shield from meteors and comets.

Here, we have to remember what God Almighty says in the Koran (meaning): “And We have made the heaven a roof, safe and well-guarded. Yet they turn away from its signs (i.e. sun, moon, winds, clouds, etc…)” (Sura Al-Anbiya, ayah 32)

That running and sweep

The above is drawing of a black hole in the center of a whirlpool while it swallows a cloud of cosmic dust. Scientists discovered a giant black hole at the center of our galaxy, which is 4 million times double size of the Sun. They confirm that these super-massive black holes are dead stars. They are very heavy within very narrow space and are the cemetery of stars, swallowing and sweeping everything coming close to it even light and are swimming in the space.

God the Almighty says about these stars (meaning), “So, verily I swear of that invisibles that run and sweep.” (Sura At-Takweer, ayat 15-16)

It is amazing to know that recent scientists found that these dead stars have three characteristics, which are: invisibility, running and sweeping. Is it not clear evidence that God the Almighty, the Teller of these ayat, is the Creator of the Universe and everything?!

A wonderful galaxy

This is the “M104” galaxy which is called the Sombrero Galaxy. Its width is more than 50,000 light years and it is 28 million light years far from us (one light year = 9.5 million kilometre). In the galaxy there are 100,000 million susn like our sun. So that each point represent a cluster of stars!

God the Almighty reminds us of His unlimited power by saying (meaning), “Are you more difficult to create, or is the heaven that He constructed?” (Sura An-Nazi‘at, ayah 27)

The Universe like a Circle

This drawing represents the way some scientists look at the universe; it looks like a cake after evidence has shown that the universe is limited and closed though it constantly expands.

One of the theories says that the universe is a very small circle that swims in a vast space. All galaxies revolve round the centre of this circle and this revolving takes billions of years. Such a theory is highly appreciated by astronomers because it explains many cosmic phenomena such as the expansion of the universe. All glory to God, the Almighty! There is a marvellous hadith, a saying of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) which confirms that the universe is a very small circle in relation to something that is much bigger, the throne of God.

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “The seven heavens in relation to the throne of God are like a circle that is thrown in the wilderness.” (Narrated by al-Bayhaqi)

This hadith raises the question of how did Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) know this exact comparison to scientific facts at a time when no one on earth knew anything about the secrets of the universe?

The orbits of the sun and moon

The moon’s orbit around the Earth differs from the Earth’s orbit around the sun. There could never be a clash between the sun and the moon. The movement of the moon in orbit is very complex. It revolves around the Earth, and rotates along with the Earth around the sun and rotates with the sun around the galactic centre. And, it rotates with the entire galaxy in a cosmic orbit known to no one else, except God the Almighty.

These amazing facts about the magnitude of the cosmic order were disclosed only in the modern era. But the Glorious Koran referred to these facts in the ayah (meaning), “It is not permitted to the Sun to catch up to the Moon, nor can the Night outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along in (its own) orbit (according to Law).” (Sura YaSin, ayah 40)

It is, indeed, a scientific miracle that confirms that the Koran is the Word of God the Almighty.
