Medical Quarantine

Doctors today confirm that the best way to control and ultimately get rid of severe infectious diseases is to place infected (or possibly infected) patients in quarantine; that is, to isolate them for some period of time whilst the disease is treated.

Fourteen centuries ago, this was not a known medical fact. Nevertheless, this was one of the many therapeutic recommendations that the Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) told us about! He once said: “So if you hear of its spread in a land, don't approach it, and if a plague should appear in a land where you are present, then don't leave that land in order to run away from it (i.e. plague).”

Such medical truths are but further signs of the truth of the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace and blessings be upon him) message and that he never spoke of his own accord.
