Trousers were not designed for women

Trousers were not designed for women

Jeans have become an integral part of a woman’s wardrobe in the 21st century. Today we see how Muslim women may wear a headscarf and trousers at the same time. But very few question whether this kind of dress is allowed for women according to our religion. Theologians repeatedly tell us that this type of clothing is designed only for men and that women’s legs should be hidden under a dress or skirt.

Well, some may say that in today’s rapid rhythm of life it is hard to follow these rules but let me tell you that I personally managed to say no to trousers. And now I would like to share my story with you.

To tell the truth, when I put on the headscarf for the first time, I did not wear skirts for several years at all because, as you know, short skirts are not allowed and long ones are somehow uncomfortable and unattractive.

But when I was about 15 years old, on the Web I came across a blogger. Her name was Alexandra. She posted pictures of how she wore skirts. They seemed so beautiful to me.

Nevertheless, I did not begin to follow her style nor did I wear a scarf the way she did or chose the same colours in my clothes. But it was at that moment that a thought appeared in my head and I realized that it was so beautiful to be attired like a woman.

So, in the eighth grade, I started buying not only jeans but dresses as well! These were dirndl skirts, exclusively for summer. I did not wear straight ones then. It seemed to me that it would be very hot to put them on in summer and in winter I still preferred trousers.

That summer I had only skirts and dresses in my wardrobe and I finally realized that it was very comfortable for me to be in dresses. Next I began to think what style would fit me when it gets cold? It was then that I remembered Sasha’s style. So I bought my first knitted black skirt. And guess what happened next? From that very moment I started wearing jeans less and less and now I do nott have them in my wardrobe at all. You see, I do not remember the last time I went outside in jeans. I feel really comfortable in skirts now and I find them very beautiful.

I would like to share how to wear skirts and dresses so as to feel comfortable.

According to results of surveys, 395 girls out of 614 prefer trousers in everyday life. They say that they are driven by the desire to feel comfortable. But after all, few people know that there are many types and styles of skirts and dresses that allow women to lead an active lifestyle and at the same time do not constrain them.

When choosing clothes, first of all, you need to pay attention to the material. In summer, it is better to choose such fabrics as cotton, viscose, fine knitwear, chiffon.

It is worth paying attention to the width of the item as well. It is better not to wear tight-fitting dresses: firstly, because this does not correspond to the norms of Islam, and secondly, you will feel hot in them. It will be much better and cool for your body to have on loose dresses.

In winter, choose skirts made of dense knitwear and loose dresses.

These tips will help to make you feel much better in skirts than in jeans, because, as you know, jeans hinder one’s movements.

So, dear girls, if you want to cleanse your wardrobe of masculine clothing, just go and do it. It’s so wonderful when a Muslim woman looks feminine and modest!

As soon as you favour skirts and dresses, you Insha’Allah will never be able to part with them!

The Digital Whirlwind: How Not to Lose Oneself in the World of Social Media

It is hard to imagine the modern world without the internet, instant messaging apps and social media. A young person who does not use the internet or is not registered on social media is the exception rather than the rule. Such people, unfortunately, may even be considered out of touch.   I...

The Echo of Feminism and the Voice of Faith

In our time, the loud voices of feminism echo even into the hearts of Muslim women.   This echo, rolling across the world, sounds loud and insistent, sometimes so powerful that it can knock down those who have not yet firmly established themselves on the path of truth. On social media, on...

Let the Soul Grow

Science surprisingly confirms the wisdom revealed 1,500 years ago in the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. I was given another reason to reflect on this when reading an excerpt from a lecture by Carl Gustav Jung, the founder of analytical psychology.   The psychologist asks a question that...

The Explorer of Natural Laws: Al-Jahiz

In every nation, there always appear a small number of individuals who are inexorably drawn to the understanding of nature and its laws. Abu Uthman Amr ibn Bakr al-Basri, better known as al-Jahiz, noted: “Nations that do not have such individuals are doomed to...

Dialogue or Argument in the Family

Dialogue and argument are similar in meaning. Both involve an exchange of opinions on a specific topic.   However, dialogue is conducted politely, with careful listening and an exchange of knowledge, allowing each person to learn something new. An unworthy argument, however, is more like a...
